Kuehne + Nagel announced today that it has entered into an agreement to acquire Link Logistics International Pty Ltd, Melbourne / Australia. The acquisition of this Victorian leading forwarder for perishable goods is consistent with Kuehne + Nagel’s global strategy to enhance the already successful “fresh to door concept”.

Link Logistics, founded in 1998, is an Australian owned and operated perishable freight specialist with facilities in Melbourne, Sydney and Tasmania. The company is offering a full range of services such as cold chain management, temperature controlled storage, customs clearance, fumigation services on site, as well as general freight forwarding both sea and air. Link Logistics is ranked Australia’s IATA number 1 on spend in relation to the export of perishable airfreight.

Profound industry and product specific knowledge, best in class facilities, speed, and reliable performance are key differentiators of Link Logistics. The company employs 33 staff.

“This acquisition is consistent with our global expansion strategy in the field of perishable logistics”, said Karl Gernandt, Chairman of Kuehne + Nagel International AG. “It enhances our global capabilities especially in a country with strong perishable logistics requirements where highly specialised handling ‘know how’ is required”.

“We welcome this exciting opportunity to become part of the global Kuehne + Nagel network. This association meets our overall strategy and will allow us the ability to expand our services to new destinations, securing the long term future of our business”, said Mark Greaney of Link Logistics.  “Our leading position in the Australian perishables market, as well as our state of the art facilities in Melbourne shall compliment Kuehne + Nagel extremely well. This is an extremely exciting time for our company, our employees and importantly the business’ future”.
